Pinagdiwang ng Estados Unidos ang kanilang 243rd Independence Day noong nakaraang July 4, 2019. Kaya naman isang federal holiday ito na kung tawagin ay 4th of July.
Napirmahan ang Declaration of Independence of the United States noong July 4, 1776 na nagsasaad na ang thirteen American colonies “were no longer subject (and subordinate) to the monarch of Britain and were now united, free, and independent states.”
Sine-celebrate ang Independence Day sa United States with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States.

YANKY DOODLE DANDY (1942)
Isang grand musical tungkol sa 4th of July na pinagbidahan ni James Cagney, Joan Leslie, Walter Huston, and Richard Whorf. Nagmula ito sa biographical musical film tungkol kay George M. Cohan, known as “The Man Who Owned Broadway”. Pinasikat ng pelikulang ito na dinirek ni Michael Curtiz ang mga patriotic tunes na “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “Over There”. In 1993, Yankee Doodle Dandy was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
Isang giant killer shark ang naghasik ng lagim sa isang tahimik na New England beach town on the morning of July 4th kunsaan maraming tao ang nasawi at nasaktan. BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY (1989)
Based on the best-selling autobiography of Vietnam War veteran Ron Kovic (Tom Cruise), na isang small-town athlete who enlists with the marines to fight in Vietnam. Pero umuwi siyang paralyzed at pakiramdam niya ay nagtaksil sa kanya ang Amerika. Dahil dito ay naging isang anti-war and pro-human rights political activist si Kovic. This film directed by Oliver Stone, was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won Best Director and Best Film Editing. Ito ang second installment sa trilogy ni Oliver Stone about the Vietnam War. Nauna rito ang “Platoon” (1986) at ikatlo ang “Heaven & Earth” (1993).
Directed by Edward Zwick, kuwento ito ng 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, the Union Army’s second African-American regiment in the American Civil War. Bida rito sina Matthew Broderick as Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, the regiment’s commanding officer, and Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes, and Morgan Freeman as fictional members of the 54th. Tuwing sasapit ang 4th of July ay pinagdiriwang ang kanilang heroic actions at the Second Battle of Fort Wagner. Glory was nominated for five Academy Awards and won three, including Best Supporting Actor for Denzel Washington.
MISS FIRECRACKER (1989)
Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play The Miss Firecracker Contest by Beth Henley, the comedy film directed by Thomas Schlamme tells the story of Carnelle (Holly Hunter), isang hometown girl na hindi masaya sa kanyang buhay kaya sumali siya sa annual Fourth of July Miss Firecracker beauty pageant na every year ay napapanalunan ng kanyang pinsan na si Elain (Mary Steenburgen). Duda ang pamilya ni Carnelle na may chance itong manalo dahil hindi siya beauty pageant material at questionable ang moral character niya. Pero ang manalo sa beauty contest ang tanging paraan ni Carnelle para matakasan niya ang kanyang lumang buhay. Tampok din sa pelikula sina Tim Robbins, Alfre Woodard, and Scott Glenn.
THE SANDLOT (1993)
Isang coming-of-age comedy film directed, and narrated by David Mickey Evans na tungkol sa isang young baseball players during the summer of 1962. Unforgettable scene ay ang pagsali nila sa Annual Fourth of July baseball game. Mga bida rito ay sina Tom Guiry, Mike Vitar, Karen Allen, Denis Leary, and James Earl Jones. Naging cult film na ang pelikulang ito at every year tuwing 4th of July ay pinalabas ito sa cable TV.
INDEPENDENCE DAY (1996)
Known as ID4, kuwento ito ng isang alien invasion on earth at isa sa maituturing na classic sci-fi action film ever shown. Bida rito si Will Smith as Captain Steven Hiller at Bill Pullman as US President Whitmore na nabigyan ng mission na maligtas ang Amerika sa kamay ng mga aliens bago sumapit ang Independence Day. The film became the highest-grossing film of 1996 and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Nagkaroon ito ng sequel 20 years after titled Independence Day: Resurgence.
I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER (1997)
Isang trahedya ang naganap sa gabi bago ang 4th of July weekend sa apat na teenagers na sina Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Helen Shivers (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Barry Cox (Ryan Phillippe) and Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.).
